It is a beautiful machine and I like the idea of being my own barista when it comes to the milk part.
I love I can turn a dial and get the amount of water I feel like using for either my espresso or lungo in one touch.
The way you have to sort of push the water tank in under the machine annoys me, because it means I have to have plenty of room behind the machine. With the Citiz and Milk I just had to have room above the machine.
I find the capsule holder difficult to clean, I can't dry it properly, it is very narrow and long. Since I live in a place where the water is very hard, it gets stained quite easy. With about every second capsule when popped into the container it stains the front of the capsule holder with coffee. It is a minor thing but it just does not look good.
The dip tray may not look small but if you are using the steamer often it gets filled quite fast. So be ready for that.
My machine "works" but it makes a loud thump thump noise when I use the steamer and the noise it loud enough to be heard over the radio playing and honestly it sounds like there is a little guy inside the machine banging with a hammer on the inside wanting to get out. Plus the Descaling light is constantly orange. This despite I have not used the machine that much. It is suppose to blink orange when the machine needs descaling but mine is just constantly orange even after a descaling!!!
I contacted Nespresso about the loud noice and it took me 6 calls on 6 different days talking to 6 different people before one actually decided that maybe she should hear the noise. This is for me not good costumer service.
Each of the 5 promised to call back after they had asked their boss about the sound but none ever did!!
Nespresso finally looked at the machine and decided the pressure and temperature was ok. No explanation as to the loud noise and the noise was still there!.
I have listened to several Maestria and on none of them can you hear that sound when using the steamer!!!
I am in a bit of a limbo here. The company where I bought the machine will not exchange it since Nespresso says it is ok.
But why does no other machine then make that loud noise and why despite descaling is the light a constant orange??
I would love to recommend this machine and many of its downfalls I could live with, but the way Nespresso has treated this case and the fact that machine does not seem to have just one problem but two just make me come to the conclusion that I can not.
I've got the Magimix version of this product, but as a previous reviewer says, Krupps, De Longhi and Magimix are all licensed with the same thing. I only bought it three days ago, but I seriously love it. It looks beautfiul. Is solidly made. Works like a dream. Currently investigating how to make my own Nespresso capsules, but that's an adventure for another day. The range they've got is good enough for the time being. Hopefully won't be springing leaks / breaking down, because I'm a big fan at the moment.
