Premium price scales but budget parts - You would buy this for the technology and compatibility but you get out of date tech

Simply the worst product I have bought in a long time. Premium price for poorly put together product (you are buying this for the technology and compatibility). I read all the review - they were mixed but mainly slated the setup. I am used to poor setups and wireless technology so thought I would try it. Simply put, the setup probably looks like it works if the product is not faulty but mine was faulty and there seemed to be a large number of faulty products, and products that became faulty quickly. Looking at the device, it supports 802.11b only. 802.11b was released in 1999, outdated by 802.11g in 2003, 802.11n in 2009 and 802.11ac in 2013. These are all mainstream protocols supported by all modern routers. To only support b is saving FitBit about 50p per device. On a premium device this is unacceptable. The quality of the configuration/setup, number of problems on forum sites, use of technologies outdated over a decade ago points to penny pinching and therefore customer rip off. There are any number of solutions to the configuration issues which would cost pence to implement.
You could buy this product and be lucky. However the forums also point to devices failing regularly within a couple of years when you have no chance to get it fixed or a refund. I would argue it is not worth the risk on a pair of scales twice that of others with more features.
Having witnessed the failure of the device to connect to my router I am not prepared to take the risk.
