If you want to get deeper into the science of whisky, from raw materials through distillation processes to maturation and beyond, then this is an invaluable reference source. Explained in everyday, basic English, Gavin D Smith takes the reader through every facet of whisky's production in an easily-readible manner that still manages to delve deeper than most other whisky books. Written with a deftness of style that is immensely readable and is interspersed with a leavening of the lesser-known and often charmingly perverse, lighter facts about the "water of life".
A great book to have at hand and one into which the reader can dip in and out as the mood takes you. Thoroughly recommended to all lovers of whisky.
This book certainly contains lots of information about Whisky, which it should. However, something which might be simple to flick through to find the information you need, becomes much more of a challenge for a Kindle App on my IPad. If it hadn't been a cheap sale item over Christmas, I would have been annoyed.
