Just when everyone in Morganville thought they were safe trouble strikes again.

Bishop is no longer the threat - no - this time it is something far far worse than Bishop.
(May contain spoilers)

The Draug have finally found the vampires and now Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael must help to protect their home.
After saving Michael, Oliver and Naomi from the civic pool Amelie now has been infected with a master draug bite from Magnus. Claire et al is frantically trying to find a cure for the bite whilst trying to protect their town and survive in the ruins of what is left.

Black Dawn is full of more surprises and twists... if you thought the Bishop story was intense then this one is ten times more so. It all kicks off from here... Morganville will never be the same again. I guess you will have to read it to decide for yourself but I think that the story gets so much more amazing now. Like everything is so much more intense and important. No more getting out of easy situations from sheer luck. It all seems more... adult in my opinion. Can't wait for book number 15!

I've read the whole series twice - except that I couldn't get this title when I reached it in the sequence so I skipped it. This time I was looking for something else and saw - and ordered - the missing title. As with any long series, there will be titles that really work for you, and others that just feel like bridges past some awkwardness in the author's scheme of things. This one is a direct follow-on from the previous one, rather than the next plot the author thought up, and you will benefit from having read the earlier one about the Draug first as it's a fairly tightly focused story. For me, it's not her best but still good and worth the time spent reading it.

I like the way the narrator changes from character to character and the clever way the story progresses. The mirror of the draug and vampire strengths and weaknesses is clever. I can't wait to read more!!

It wasn't my favourite book of the series, but it did have some descriptive and on the edge action towards the end.
