Svetlana Zakahrova is beautiful to watch and Roberto Bolle is the essence of nobility. This version is really identical to the Royal Ballet's both having been choreographed by Natalia Makarova. In fact I checked the cast lists as the High Priest looks identical. I preferred Marianela Nunez as Gamzetti to Isabella Brusson but which ever version you have it does not matter as you will spend a magical evening of ballet.
This version of the Bayadere of Ludwig Minkus is very beautiful, and the reasons are at least three: the protagonists Svetlana Zakharova, Roberto Bolle and the coregrafia of Marius Petipa/Natalia Makarova. Svetlana Zakharova once more she enchants for the elegance and the depth of the movements, in which she puts immense sweetness and strength, marvelous Nikiya, in the body and in the expressive and enchanting face... And Roberto Bolle, the "him" for excellence of the ballet, an unforgettable Solor. Also for him, the public can admire only the elegance and the strength, the precision of the movements. It is possible to admire besides the good agreement among the two, agreement made of experience, professionalism, and the public feels this. Perhaps Isabelle Brusson as Gamzatti in the second act, leaves some small question mark. The corps of ballet has done a good job, probably stimulated by the presence of such protagonists, and of Natalia Makarova that after the representation, always very beautiful, she also picked up the deserved endless applauses. Very positive the test, even though short because the short role, of the gold idol, Antonino Sutera. Excellent as used is David Coleman as guest director of Orchestra of Scala of Milan.
