Still got this book, still discovering new recipes (tuna steaks trapani style). The best £15 you'll ever spend

This book is an excellent buy for all lovers of Italian food. It covers the entire spectrum of Italian cooking from starters to desserts via, bread, pasta, meat and fish to name a few.

The book starts with a fundamentals chapter for ingredients and tools and then you're straight into the cooking.

There are no glossy photos, but this is not a problem as there are many excellent diagrams to demonstrate various techniques eg. make fresh tortellini.

The book is suitable for beginners and experts alike as it allows you to decide how seriously you take her instructions (who rolls pasta with a one metre long rolling pin! )

Most recipes are complemented with short passages on its origins and her style of writing is pleasant and quirky.

I would reccomend this book wholeheartedly

Bought this to replace my original that was falling apart. Everything I cook from this book is delicious. Marcella brings Italian food to life with her narrative and recipes. My parents were Italian and this book just encompasses all that is Italian. There are no photos in this book but there are drawings where necessary, but it doesn't really matter as her descriptions help visualise thie dishes. Marcella and Antonio Carluccio are my go to books if I want to cook Italian, as well as my mama's recipes of course!

Can't say it wows me, bought due to a chefs review( his favourite cook book) but not dying to try out many of the recipes. Think I'm a spice lover rather than a herby.

Not only is this the cookbook I use most often (out of many), but it's what enabled me to use other cookbooks - Italian or not. It doesn't just give you recipes - it teaches principles and technique that can be applied to other, recipe-only, cookbooks. And the recipes themselves are wonderful.

Highly recommended.
