Disappointing, but the grater works well
on 18 June 2012
On the pro side, it does a great job with grating cheese and also making bread crumbs. It's fast and relatively quiet. It's VERY easy to clean, so that's a huge plus over a regular food processor.
The down side, well, food flies everywhere. Because the output cone is so high, I don't have any small bowls tall enough that will catch most things, so I have to use a *really* large bowl even for the smallest jobs, unless I want to wipe half the food off the counter. And because you have to push down with one hand on the 'presser' and you have to hold down the 'on' button constantly, you can't hold a smaller bowl up to catch everything.
The slicer is terrible. I tried to slice some carrots, but even the 'large' slicer is so thin that it just came out as a mush. Used that one time and thought 'never again.'
Food gets stuck under the cones pretty easily, so it jams. You can stop and clean it out with not too many problems, but the fact that you may have to do that several times if you're doing a big job is an inconvenience.
So, I can't recommend this. Despite being attractive and easy to clean, it's really only good for grating. I could have gotten a grater for MUCH less than this cost, so considering the faults, it seems like a huge waste of money. I really wish now I'd just bought a mini-food processor.
