The Saga continues
on 30 December 2012
The 'Downton Abbey' saga continues with its usual thoroughness and a plot of twists and turns, good acting and cinematography', but for me the magic has gone. It is like watching a period 'Eastenders', with more finesse. Yes, it captures the detail of the times but for me the characters just seem to be going through the motions adequately.
I purchased this as a Xmas present for my wife, who thinks it is very good, but we are in agreement that this series is not a patch on the 'Lark Rise to Candelford' BBC series, which does not feel like a series but a full blown film , with great depth of character and story, with brilliant acting and one can immerse onself completely in to those bygone times. One feels that there is no stage management about it, you just hop back to a different century.
Having said the above if you have the other 'Downton Abbey' series, you will not be disappointed.
