Despite the previous reviewer's misgivings - and honestly, the first track isn't even a WHOLE Beatles song (it's a medley), please be aware that this collection of songs is a lot more eclectic than his/her review may suggest. There is an effort here to tackle a more modern repertoire - modern in the sense of 'more recent songs', not 'modern jazz'! I think this is a good move. We all love the standards but they can end up sounding a little stale if nothing is ever added to the repertoire. Here we have compositions by Joni Mitchell, Elvis Costello, the Allman Bros., and particularly Donald Fagen. There are also a couple of numbers from the 'old guard'. Lush life stands out, although this is also part of a medley. An interesting effort i.m.o. .
Clever, talented, sophisticated. Knocks spots off todays top 40! A musical journey, no swearing , no labels of 'explicit', who needs that in music anyways?! A talented musician playing some fine songs.
