This is the book that set my nine year old grandson firmly on the road to independent reading. I downloaded it for him on my Kindle and he was engrossed. Up until then he always needed to read with an adult to enjoy a story, and much preferred to be read to, rather than read independently. He then read "Stanley Stickle does not have a girlfriend" and within days was dragging his parents into Waterstones for David Walliams' books. Just a few months later he was loving Percy Jackson and now has read all The Heroes of Olympus novels. He says "Stanley Stickle made me laugh and want to read more, so I read the next book and now love reading." In the space of just over a year his progress has been phenomenal. So well done, Trevor, you have a real talent for writing for reluctant readers.
