If like me you need a simple phone for calls and texts, your search ends here. This Doro comes close to perfection with utterly intuitive set-up and functionality, solid build quality, easy well-spaced keys and an authoritative screen to tell you what's going on.
Doro have a reputation for "senior" phones, but this one manages to avoid all impression of recent escape from an old folks' home. Indeed (as a businessman in Scotland) I have not the slightest fear of using this product amongst clients and colleagues who prefer smartphones.
Call log management is simply brilliant with all recent activity accesible by a single key.
The 2mp camera is not to be discounted as a useful extra - it is capable of producing really excellent images with the added flexibility of zoom and brightness/contrast adjustability.
Of course, you will also need to know the negatives about this product, although neither of these are sufficiently serious to downgrade my five-star rating
#1. The keypad is very sensitive to pressure, so even if keypad lock is set the phone will switch on from time to time in a pocket or handbag with an "unlock" alert. This will reduce battery life between charges.
#2. The phone has Bluetooth and pairs perfectly with my car system including SIM data transfer. However you do have to press a button on the phone to re-establish connection each time you get back into the car. Doro in both UK and Sweden (excellent customer service) know about this glitch and it will probably be sorted in future models.
In summary this remains my best mobile phone EVER since the death of my Nokia 3330!
after the first phone was replaced for a fault, the replacement seems to be exactly what I wanted. No fuss at all with the return.Doro Phone Easy 515 GSM Sim Free Mobile Phone - BlackLoud adjustable ring tone, large buttons, clear vision screen, and compatable to the bluetooth of my vehicle.Phone not too large also.
Smartphones are wonderful if you want to surf the net, download music, make movies or locate the nearest KFC but, more often than not, they are rubbish at making phone calls! Most manufacturers seem to have lost sight of this fundamental requirement in their rush to increase screen size and/or add yet more complexity to their product offerings. What used to be a simple procedure when making or receiving a phone call can now be a minefield of menus and options.
But help is at hand! The Doro 515 is a welcome return to basics for those of us for whom Facebook & Twitter have been tried & rejected as trivial, time-wasting invasions of privacy. This phone 'does what it says on the tin' very well. Easy to setup & use, quality materials and crystal-clear calls - there's even an FM radio if you really want to know what's going on in the world! By all means keep your 'smartphone' (or your Ipod Touch) for all the clever stuff but why not keep a Doro 515 for simply making calls and/or sending texts - it won't look out of place and you don't need to keep charging it up every time you play Angry Birds!
