Big names but awful recording
on 23 March 2016
I'm baffled by the reviews this issue has received. OK, so its got an illustrious team of soloists but the recording is just plain awful!
Tricky, I know, to balance violin, cello and piano against a full orchestra. However there are quite a few far better recordings.
Masur conducting the Gewandhaus with Schiff, Hoelscher and Zacharias. and on Capriccio the Dresden Phil conducted by Kegel with
some obscure soloists are far better. The music will always transcend the musicians no more so than with Beethoven.
