An exquisite and passionate film, with music and dance from superb performers.with the haunting voice of singer Rocia Jurado. How tragic to lose both her and the great Antonio Gades - as always he and the other dedicated flamenco dancers in the Carlos Saura trilogy produce work of exceptional quality. Dated? It's timeless.

Good presentation of Drama and Music. Wish there was "more" music. The Flamenco style singer is very effective. The dancers are very good. The story, like Verdi's Don Carlos, has a very strange ending, but this is the .....story with......legends and......stories !!!!!!

This for me is my third DVD in this wonderful trilogy and the set flamenco pieces are great particularly that which is choreographed around the fire. Antonio Gades and Christina Hoyes produce a chemistry between them that is palpable due to their body and arm movements. The realistic village set makes for a very atmospheric film that is perfect for this story.

Like so many others of Sauras film with lots of spanish-andalusian atmosphere, drama and romance - and naturally lots of excellent spanish. gipsy-like flamenco dances performed by Gades, Hoyos, del Sol among others.

This is more of a movie than a stage production to start with. It may have worked 30 years ago, but today it looks pretty dated and cliched in its approach. But all the same, the music is pretty much well sung and the visuals well enacted. I would not rave about it today, but still buy it because of the great quality of the performance of music and singing. About time that Real Madrid did a better job of it on a live stage and put it into a blu-ray disc......
