Brilliant film, so bleak, amoral and atmospheric. Fascinating to see how grim Newcastle looked before its urban renewal programme.

A raw tale of the gangster underworld. Michael Caine stars - at his absolute best!

A CLASSIC BRITISH FILM!!!! Michael Caine is Jack Carter, returning to the North East for his brothers funeral and to uncover how he died. He becomes involved in the sinister underworld of crime and pornography in the North East and Newcastle area. The supporting cast includes Britt Eckland, Ian Hendry, Alun Armstrong, Glynn Edwards, George Sewell,John Osbourne and Brian Mosley. This film would be a welcome addition to any collection.

This wont be a very long review for this great movie. This is one of MICHAEL CAINES best movie. The story CAINE comes up from LONDON to NEWCASTLE to see how his brother died. This movie made in the early 70s still stands out as one of the great british gangster movies of all time.with its great acting very good script and that haunting theme from ROY BUDD .The disc has good picture that has a bit of a dark look but the movie was made that way the sound is the original sound and not the dubbed american sound. On the extra side we get the trailers for the movie and a MICHAEL CAINE commentary. So just buy this disc its great
