For the price, this is a great introduction to '' joplinesque '' Dana Fuchs, her first rate band and in particular her excellent guitarist and collaborator,Jon Diamond.Dana has such a power house of a voice, any rock female vocalist would want to aspire too her high standards.Rock, soul or blues ,she can sing the lot.If she comes over to the UK again,I'll be first in line for tickets, after listening to this album,it certainly sounds as though you get your money's worth.

One rainy morning, I received an e-mail from a friend with a link to a recent concert in Copenhagen performed by a completely unknown performer; Dana Fuchs Band.
I was completely taken ablaze by the link to an old Beatles song, "Helter Skelter". The way Dana Fuchs starts full blast, and somehow manage to increase the power not once, but four (4) times in a row to reach each peak more powerful than the previous one, seems impossible. But Dana Fuchs are capable of doing just that. You are not in any doubt that she means every word, and on the video it is a pleasure to watch the band that obviously enjoys playing the intense music. If you like Janis Joplin, she has got a sister in Dana Fuchs Band.

Sadly neglected by UK mainstream radio, Dana Fuchs is one of the finest female rock singers of the past 20 years. Backed by a fine band, this album of mainly blueish rock is highly recommended. In addition to her own songs, there is a storming cover of The Beatles' "Helter Skelter.
