A very detailed book, excellent for students' of W.W.2. The eyewitness accounts tell a very personal story of courage and endurance under truly lethal circumstances.
This war had to be won, otherwise everyone within the soviet union would be killed or enslaved. The soviet soldiers were not only fighting for there own survival, but also for there relatives and friends who could not defend themselves.
A terrible realisation for the soldiers and an inevitable confrontation with the nazies.
The book demonstrates that nightmare with describtions of officers and men forced to be innovative and new in the way war is waged.
