'Rock'n'Roll exploded onto the music-scene back in 1956 with the film 'Rock Around the Clock'
The American 'Rock' Giants of that era soon visited our charts here in the U.K led of course by
the 'Rock' Daddy 'Bill Hayley' who certainly had the World 'Rocking around the Clock, he was
soon followed by a host of 'Rock-Heroes' such as - 'Little Richard' 'Chuck Berry' 'Gene Vincent'
'Elvis' (of course) 'Fats Domino' 'Eddie Cochran' 'Jerry Lee Lewis' among the many, they were
soon joined by artist such as 'Buddy Holly' 'The Everly's' 'The Coasters' and many more as
early Pop blended onto the scene back then.
The U.K were a little slow to respond to the mass invasion of U.S but did with artists such as
'Cliff Richard' 'Tommy Steele' 'Adam Faith' 'Marty Wilde' 'Billy Fury' among the early 'British'
reply.....though, for me, the true Rock-Heroes were from the U.S.
This is a very interesting introduction to the music that certainly 'Rocked' the World with memorable
tracks on-board such as.......on disc one.......'Bill Hayley and the Comets' --'Rock Around The Clock'
'Lloyd Price' --'Stagger Lee'........'Paul Anka' --'Diana'........'Johnny Cash' --'I Walk The Line'.......
'The Coasters' --'Yakety Yak'........'Fats Domino' --'Blueberry Hill'........'Buddy Holly' --'Every Day'.....
and.......'Elvis' --'Hound Dog'........Just a few of the numbers to conjure with on disc one........disc two
......''The Everlys' --'Cathy's Clown'........'Jerry Lee Lewis' --'Great Ball of Fire'.......Big Bopper' --
'Chantilly Lace'.......'Little Richard' --'Good Golly Miss Molly' .......'The Platters' --The Great Pretender'
'Frankie Avalon' --'Venus' .......and......'Chuck Berry' --'Maybelline' .......just a sample of the great sounds
on disc two.......on disc three.......''Bo Diddley' --'Bo Diddley' .......'Elvis' --'Jailhouse Rock' .......The Teddy
Bears --'To Know Him is To Love Him' .......'Connie Francis' --'Who's Sorry Now'........'Phil Phillips with
the Twilights' --'Sea of Love' .......'Chuck Berry' --'Johnny B Goode' .......and........'Little Richard' --'Lucille'
.......again just a few of the memories on-board disc three.
I have simply randomly selected half a dozen or so tracks from each of the 3-Discs on this compilation to
give a flavour of what is on offer on the collection.
The songs included on the first of the 'American' Rock'n'Roll Anthems' is in my view a great reflection of
the early years of the music-scene of the late fifties creeping into the early sixties.
With compilations such as this the main concern for collectors is the sound quality of the compilation, well
I can tell you, it's pretty good.
At just £3.00 (current price on Amazon) for 75 tracks, it's a steal.

This CD contains just about every artist you need to cover the introduction to early rock & roll - although as music is such a personal taste, some may well disagree. There are some great favourites, and one or two tracks I didn't know. Great music for the tedious journey to and from work!

Heard this cd playing in the Demelza Hospice charity shop at Rochester where it was the perfect background for the lovely assistants and their great stock of vintage clothes. Although they would not sell me their copy they kindly gave me the title so that I could buy it myself. Great Value.

I would say that only 50% is real R'n'R, the rest is popular song of that age e.g. Georgia on my mind - what does it do here? Beware....

A lot of tracks are not exactly rock'n'roll or anthems but there's enough good stuff there to make it enjoyable. Some are not that great quality. However, for the price and listed as "as new" but turned out to be brand new, I won't complain. Given the price, I suspect that this is not an entirely legit release, since the tracks will all be out of copyright now.

Brilliant selection mainly from the late 1950s. If you like this era of music or you want to check it out, step right up and buy. As other reviewers have pointed out, it's not all 'rock n roll' but that's a bonus. Not only do you have r'n'r classics such as the 1st four on disk 1 - Rock Around The Clock, Roll Over Beethoven, All Shook Up, Be Bop A Lula - but you get Latin pop (La Bamba), blues (Howlin' Wolf), country (Hank Williams), classic pop (To Know Him Is To Love Him), early soul (James Brown's phenomenal Please Please Please). As you'd expect for the price, the packaging is minimal but just go to Wikipedia for info on many of these songs. If paradise had a jukebox....

Not very happy at all with this set of 3 discs. The main problem is that the disc track listing in the package, did not match the actual lists shown on the individual discs. It took me ages to realign the 2 bits of media so that I could pick out the tracks and play them.I will be more careful next time with my purchases.
