Chomsky always makes such a compelling case. He really is a giant in the modern politically conscious world. Well worth a read

As far as I can tell this is a series of transcripts of Noam Chomsky's interviews and speeches. If not, and this is a standard book, then the structure is appalling. It is worth a read now that the money has been taken off me, but not If it hadn't. The arguments are barely there instead it's as if this is a plan for a book, but he does make some good points.

If you only read one political book this is the one to go for.
Well written and in a easy to read style - Chomsky will put so many things into context and give clarity to the way the world is influenced by the USA and big business - he is critical of politicians who serve their elite masters whilst subjecting the 'rabble' to a suppressed existence
This author has received plaudits from all over the world and scores of honorary degrees - the U.S. press however give him very few column inches - why would that be?
He writes about the 'unmentionable 5 letter word' - read on......Buy this book AND read it carefully!

Quite interesting. As an anarchist, disillusioned by the venality of US government and politics, he has a different and sometimes stimulating angle on the subjects he speaks about. He is anti establishment and anti capitalist. The content is a little superficial as it is based largely on transcripts of his interviews and speeches. So many assertions are made without backup. For a renowned intellectual some of his rhetorical tricks are disgraceful, such as redefining the meaning of words to support his own argument (for example defining "fascist" as a heirarchical top-down organisation is just childish).

TOP 100 REVIEWERon 26 March 2016
On the plus side, this shocking account of the real world we live in, driven by corporate, not governmental nor public, interests and characterized by illegal and murderous war adventures perpetrated by the US, accidentally explains why a lot of the world today, and in particular the Muslim world, are rising up and fighting back. I'm no great apologist for Islamic terrorism, but it beggars belief when western journalists and politicians affect astonishment at the strength of anti-west feeling within Islam. Noam Chomsky stomach-churningly describes the (corporate-inspired) American foreign policy adventures that have been casually entered into, and that have literally cost the lives of millions of innocent people. This is not a read for suburban book clubs; nor, it would seem, the so-called western intelligentsia. But if you can handle harsh real world truths, then this is a fine, noble and uplifting book. On the downside, and notwithstanding the fragmented nature of the source material, I found the structure to be slightly disorganized. 4 stars.

Mr Chomsky presented and argued some general cases offering a new way of looking to political and economical conditions of these cases with a historical prospective, which eventually provide some good case studies that help in understanding the patterns US politics work according to.
I would recommend this book to political science students and to all who believe in conspiracy theories to understand the real conspiracy.

When you talk to Americans, they have never heard of Chomsky. This is because the truth is suppressed by the din of media propaganda. Let Chomsky help you think for yourself. And then wonder why exactly whilst everyone is watching come dancing, young men are coming back from Afghanistan maimed or dead.

A very special mind at work cutting through all the mist of history with clarity and interpretation that all of us concerned about past present and particularly future should read. No less than the human race and the democratic process at stake here.

For those who are still not aware of the constant presence and influence of the US in global warfare this is a huge eye opener. It is impressive the detail discription and opinio presented by Chomsky in this big set of interviews. A leftist/anarchist point of view, critical to capitalism and current social status and modern human condition. A good first read for those interest in concepts such as, calss warfare, global economy, third world countries wars and the roots of racism.
This is not a book for people looking for answers, a lot of open topics for everyone to reflect about. Chomsky is clear about that. Great piece of reading!
