A few Good Recipes....
on 28 January 2012
It's hard not to love Lorraine - she's so warm and sweet but this didnt blow me away. There are a few great recipes but i'll start with the critcisms first!
I know this is cooking 'made easy' but honestly , what food lover is going to like a desert made out of bought swiss roll and ice cream! Also there are a few very basic recipes such as sausage rolls, and creamy pasta in this - nobody needs a recipe for those.
Secondly, I'm no Gillian Mckeith but 90% of her recipes use rich ingredients - lots of butter and cream which of course we all love, but for an every day cook book which is this is supposed to be it might have been nice to have a mix of a few lighter ones.
However I do love Lorraine and there are some just lovely recipes in here - lamb shanks with chorizo and garlic, chutneys and the Chocolate marshmallow brown sugar fudge. It's the sort of book where I pick out things I want to make every time I pick it up.
