This original cast CD from 1958 is excellent, and includes many stars from the 1950s including Yana and Tommy Steele. It is a snapshot of how music was in the 1950s, and the sound quality is excellent. Yana has very few of her songs on CD, and this shows what an excellent singer she was, having made such records as "Climb up the wall", "Mr Wonderful", as well as singing songs like "Blue Star", and having her own BBC TV show. On this CD, Yana sings "Lovely night" solo, which is brilliant.

This is an odd gathering of artists in the UK production of a successful Rogers & Hammerstein musical, combining Tommy Steele, Yana and Bruce Trent, the recognised singers, with comedians Jimmy Edwards, Kenneth Williams, Ted Durante and Betty Marsden. The stand out songs are perhaps My Own Little Corner and Do I Love You and No Other Love, which Ronnie Hilton took to the top of the charts in 1956. The definitive recording of this musical is the American staging starring Julie Andrews but for a touch of nostalgia and at a pretty low cost, this version is worth having
