Good but could be better!
on 11 September 2015
Can't believe i have only given this book 3 stars! I sort of feel disappointed in myself! Gutted even. Not saying its a back book, its amazing dont get me wrong and everyone should read it but just a few niggles keep picking away at me why i should only give it 3 stars. I slept on it to make my mind up for sure and cant choose a reason why it should be more than 3 stars. Number 1) There are parts in the book were there is a major development, like causing the avalanche on the Capitol stronghold, i thought this would be in more detail and bit more interesting then it was (i'm trying not to say to much). Number 2) Katniss doesn't actually do anything! She goes to different parts of Panem but isn't really involved in much fighting apart from near the beginning were she destroys some Capitol hover-planes. That's it! No fighting when she actually gets to the Capitol. A.K.A not enough bad-ass-ness!. Number 3) She doesn't get to execute (SPOILER) Snow, she kills the rebel leader! Her whole point of going to the Capitol with her own special unit is to kill Snow, she gets the chance and doesn't!. Number 4) Is doesn't explain why she choose to kill the rebel leader instead of Snow. Number 5) The ending seems rushed and there is no better future! Katniss and everyone that has survived is in turmoil and returns to district 12 in complete poverty. HOWEVER! The fact that Katniss is suffering so much in regard to so many things after the war that it brings the whole point of the books in the fore front of your mind and what the books were actually about.
However despite all these things, the readers relationships with all the characters are good still and you cant help feeling sorry for Katniss and Peeta at times and Gale and Haymitch for that matter either. Please read this book, it is well worth it and you will like it.
