Required quite a bit of work to install
on 26 January 2014
Problems we encountered were;
The box is very roughly made. The channel for the cable to pass through was not cut deeply enough - the lid didn't shut properly - we had to enlarge it. The box hangs from one screw. In our experiences with birdboxes, this will not be sufficient to secure it in high winds. The keyhole slot for the hanging screw was not cut out at all. We had to remove the brass plate and drill it out. We also think the lid should have some waterproof felt over it.
With the box hung from the screw as directed, the lid is tight against the wall and you can't open the lid. We had to insert spacers to allow it to open on the hinges.
We didn't expect to have to drill a large 2.5 cm hole in the wall to pass the cable through. The advice to pass the cable through an open window in not helpful. We don't want to leave a window open in cold weather and be passing the cable in and out every time we leave the building. We had to cut the cable to pass it though a small hole, then re-join. Fiddly and messy.They could have put a cable junction in.
However we now have the box up and the camera is working well. We await visitors.
