The "Beginnings" series strikes again with another spectacular collection of original recordings that in this case inspired or influenced The Beatles. This is the third in a 6-disc set on The Beatles. As with others in the series (2 on the Rolling Stones and one each on The Kinks and The Who), the accompanying booklet has extremely thorough and welcome annotation. It breaks down the tracks into 8 categories: Beatles studio recording; Radio broadcast; Beatles solo recording; Demo or studio outtake; Performed Live; Live Recording Available; Influential on Beatles recording; and Get Back Sessions. I applaud whomever performed the extensive research that resulted in these fascinating choices. I hope that History of RnB Records is planning discs on The Yardbirds, The Animals and Jimi Hendrix as well.

Their other series, "How Britain Got the Blues", is every bit as good (if not better; each of the four sets in this series is a 2-disc musical adventure). Bravo to History of RnB Records for these releases and the outstanding musical scholarship that accompanies them.

This is an excellent compilation of songs. If you have volumes one and two and enjoyed them, this one is even better.

The description was perfect. The item arrived even earlier then I've been promised. Everything came up to my expectations.

Some of these songs have never been heard by the Beatles but they could very well have done them.Bo Diddley's Crackin' up I don't think had been available in the U K till the 6os and the Stones era but was revived by Paul McCartney in the 90s
However the leaflet with the CD Eddie Angel meets the Beatles shows a repro of a German set list on Bruno Koschmider's headed notepaper of songs never heard by the Beatles:
Love is a swingin' thing-the Shirelles
Watch your step-Bobby Parker
If you gotta make a fool of somebody-James Ray
One track mind-Bobby Lewis
Nobody but you-Dee Clark
Buzz Buzz A Diddle It-Freddy Cannon
I just don't understand-Ann Margret
Sheila-Tommy Roe
Almost grown-Chuck Berry
Thumbin'a ride-Coasters
Eddie Angel does all these songs-most of which never even turned up on the BBC Sessions or the Live at the Star Club
