Walimex Pro easyCover for Canon 6D
7 January 2014
The quality of the product is very good and as far as protecting the camera body its a five star product. When I first removed the cover from its own substantial packaging my first impression was one of "I'm not sure about this". Getting the cover onto the camera body was pretty easy and after a few final pulls and twists to get it sitting properly it was a surprisingly good fit. The hotshot cover simply slides into place. The screen protector slotted into place as well without any issues. It does add a slight amount of bulk to the camera body but lets face it, it was never going to make it slimmer and I haven't found it to be an issue. All of the camera function are accessible and all of the bits lined up nicely where they should. My only issue with the function of the camera is the four buttons by the top screen,AF,Drive, ISO,Metering and Light are all a little spongy whereas they do line up okay they do also need you to be a little more assertive when pressing them. To a lesser extent the same can be said for the shutter button although if I'm honest I haven't found it to be a problem it just has a different feel to it that I found you adjust to quite quickly.
Fitting and changing lenses has been no trouble at all no part of the cover ever getting in the way.
The reason I am only giving this three stars? Is quite simply down to the material that the cover is made out of. It's slippery in the hand!! Where the Canon body lets you get a confident grip on the camera the cover does the opposite, I don't feel as if I have a solid grip of the camera with the cover on it. I should point out that this is more between shots rather than when actually taking shots. The two "grip" sections do fall nicely into your hand and definitely help with the grip. I had held off doing the review hoping that the newness might wear off but a couple of months in it still hand't, I suppose that is testament to the quality and durability of the material. I have tried washing it in hot soapy water which did help with the feel of it.
The issues I've found haven't put me off using the cover as far as protecting your investment I think it does a top job.
