This CD is a true feast for both the ears and the soul. A joyful and serene exploration of the bonds between the classical Indian music forms and the flamenco. Thereby portraing the legacy of the gypsies which originally came from Rajastan bringing the rhythms and melodies of India to Europe. (A legacy also explored in the collaboration between Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin)

Amazing how Anoushka Shankar's musical universe has grown from her debut with competent but tentative interpretations of her father's music. To highly succesful experiments with the fusion of the classical tradition and modern day electronica on Rise and Breathing Under Water. Constantly developing and expanding both her compositoric and improvisational skills.

This album is beautifully diverse and innovative. Among the highlights - though all tracks are exquisite - are the guitar/sitar duet "Boy Meets Girls" with Pepe Habichuela and the infectious titletrack.

Marvelous and essential for all lovers of world music, the beauty of the sitar and the spirit of musical adventure.

Anoushka is maturing VERY nicely now. One can imagine how difficult it could be, under the shadow of her famous sitar maestro father, Pandit Ravi Shankar.
This kind of 'fusion' album is a really good way to get people interested in sitar too.
GREAT!!!!

A great album of splendid singing. I loved it and listened to it a lot when I first bought it, and go back to it still now and again.

Would never have believed that the similarities between Indian and Flamenco music could have been so clearly demonstrated on one CD.
