Have just purchased a multi-region player and finally watched all four films, another great selection to my western collection. Have not seen the top two films before, the bottom two have seen recently on TV, but now there are no adverts!

Four very good westerns from the 1950's (or earlier) when they really made the best. Good selection of stars and really good value for money. Try buying these individually!! You do need a dvd player which plays region 1 dvd's or play on your computer if you have a dvd drive as you can change regions on that. The Texas Rangers (remade as Streets of Laredo later) has plenty of action as does Kansas Raiders. I feel Canyon Passage is the weakest film of the group but only a personal opinion.

Although Rock Hudson is tall, strong and handsome, he's not a particularly good actor. He may be eye candy for the ladies, but he adds nothing to a film in terms of character or depth of emotion.

The film is beautifully shot in Technicolor, and is a masterclass in colour grading, but a technical triumph doesn't necessarily make a good film. You need a good script with good actors to make a good film. The technical side only enhances the creative talent rather than substitutes it.

Lee Van Cleef has a small part in the film but he is too killed off too early and too easily. I would have liked to have seen him have a face off with Hudson.

A super set of traditional westerns! Forget all the modern attempts at creating westerns and get back into the honest fare of the golden period.

If like me you are a fan of the traditional westerns of the 1940's and 1950's? Then this is the perfect collection for you. I enjoyed everyone of these films. And I certainly will be watching them again. You won't get one of these films for the price you pay for this collection. Teat yourself and buy it.
