This is an amazing book which I'll be thinking about for a long time. Her first book was 'Escape' which told of her literally escaping from the FLDS (Fundamental Latter Day Saints) group (cult) in 2003 with her eight children.

This book gives more detail about her life after the escape including Carolyn helping the authorities and testifying in court cases to convict some of the FLDS males for the awful offences that have been (and continue to be) committed.

In 2008 the authorities in Texas raided a fairly new FLDS complex known as YFZ (Yearning for Zion) as they believed there was child abuse happening. During this raid around 500 women and children were taken away from the complex with the children being taken into temporary care. Carolyn was called upon to advise the authorities about how life with the FLDS worked. The authorities were not well prepared for this and so it wasn’t handled well with most of the women and children being returned a few weeks later into the hands of their abusers. The FLDS are immensely powerful with allies in high places and a lot of money so fighting their evil regime is not easy. Carolyn is an amazing person to do all that she has done and I applaud her highly.

Carolyn is now settled in an non-FLDS life with a new husband and most of her children (one returned to the FLDS when she was 18 years of age). I wish Carolyn the very best and much happiness. I would love to read more in years to come of her life post-FLDS and hope she is inspiring more and more women to follow her lead and make their escape. I also hope that the authorities learn from all that has gone wrong in the past and provide a safe and supportive environment for those who leave the FLDS in subsequent years.

This is the follow up to Escape and is well worth reading as it has some information since the first book was written. Everyone who is interested in the way that cults work, target and control their victims should read this and books like this.

An absolutely inspiring woman. To think that she has endured so much yet come through with even her brain and soul intact not to mention having thrived and found happiness in our 'real' world is nothing short of a miracle. My heart went out her as she struggled to even receive basic human rights for her children and the mental pain and anguish she must have gone through is frankly unimaginable. My heart cried for her and I wish her only the very best that a free live has to offer her along with happiness and love for the rest of her life. I can only hope that one day she will be reunited with Betty and have her lovely family restored to her and reunited at long long last!

I would recommend this book as it follows on with Carolyn and her fight against the cult that she belonged to.You have to read this to believe just how they were forced to live.

As I had read Carolyn Jessop's previous book and 'Triumph' repeated a lot of the narrative from that earlier book,I found I was 'glossing' over a large part of the book. It was still a very interesting read from a very courageous lady and I was pleased to learn of her life after the end of 'Escape'. How she managed to get her life together after such a large part of it had been controlled by others, is a testament to her strength and belief in something better for herself and her children. An ideal read especially for those who have not read 'Escape'.

Extremely harrowing book to read but so unforgettable and I'm so glad that Carolyn has now got her life back and that her children are getting along well too.
