I grew up with Queen music. Spotted them when they were shown live on the Old Grey Whistle Test performing Liar live. Even then you could tell this band were different. I buy about 60 CD’s per year and a number are remastered with varying success. Some Queen recordings can be a little thin and edgy in digital form. I have this theory that many of the early digital masterings were done using optical cables rather than copper. To my ear early optical cables introduced a glass haze over recordings within an upper mid frequency band. I was never truly happy with early digital masterings of Queen material partly because of this reason. Anyway, this remastering is improved in many ways but particularly in respect to clarity and dynamic weight. Apart from the obvious dynamic benefits of drum and bass you really get a sense of the dynamic power of May’s guitar in these masterings. Truly brilliant and emotive music from Queen brought alive by great dynamics. Well done Bob Ludwig. At least there are still some great mastering engineers around to carry the torch after the passing of Doug Sax.

Got this for my 13 year old daughter as a birthday present as she recently performed in a school production of We Will Rock You. She absolutely loves reliving the songs & dance routines & is really pleased that the mp3 download is included so she can listen on her phone anytime

It's remarkable, when you think about it that Queen were about long enough to produce enough material for a 3 album set of music of "greatest hits". The first third, contains their earliest and, I suspect, their biggest hits. That said the second, and most of the third CD contains "typically Queenish" material of a good to high standard.

Overall I would recommend for everyone, but I suspect that those new to Queen would get the most out of the collection, as it would give them the definitive roadmap to their music.

So here it is, the only Queen collection that you will ever need to buy. These albums have been around so long that all the songs are really familiar. You wouldn't buy these CD's if you weren't a fan of Queen or buying it for someone that is. There are no surprises all the tracks are as they were when they were first released. Volume 111 does have some interesting collaborations but as you can imagine they are all good. Yes the songs are predictable but only because Queen were so consistantly good that all their tracks were hits and they are all included in this collection.

The quality of the songs will make you want to play them over and over again. The only thing that has changed from the original recordings is that these have been re-mastered, so if you have played your orginals to destruction, buy this collection and start all over again.

A timeless collection from four talented musicians that will take you back to the seventies in pure style, through the eighties in a wave of pop classics and leave you satisfied in the nineties with a sprinkling of more recent remixes that are the icing on an already quality piece of cake.

This exhaustive Collection contains three CDs filled with many songs from first Queen band and also the successive one.

Then the major hits like "Who Wants To Live Forever" soundtrack from "Highlander" movie, "Friends Will Be Friends", "I Want To Break Free", "The Show Must Go On", "Barcelona", "Radio Ga Ga" as well as "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" are included in this CDs set.

The third CD is not recorded with singer Freddy Mercury but instead with the later formed successive Queen band components.

A good buying.

What's not to love? Brilliant music remastered so that it sounds as good as possible on today's digital technology.

The Platinum Collection is just what you need if you're not so much an avid fan of Queen, if you are you'll have all of the tracks already, is more for the person who just likes a bit of Mercury/May Magic from time to time. The compilation is a great mix of all the Queen songs you know (but perhaps didn't realise you knew) and love. There are also a few gems that I hadn't heard before.

Queen were known for their amazing live performances and stage presence. This compilation attempts to capture and re-live some of that magic by including some live tracks. It's these tracks that really show Freddie for the superlative showman and entertainer that he most certainly was.

In terms of the quality of the sound and the conversion to mp3. I really have no complaints. The sound has very low noise and hiss accompanied by good clarity in the soft parts. In the louder more rocky sections the sound in punchy and rich. There is a little evidence of compression in parts but that is a really minor niggle, and actually if you're listening on headphones or in the car a little compression helps avoid the constant volume adjustments in response to the dynamics of the track (think Radio 3 classical music for uncompressed sound if you're not sure what I'm talking about).

Al in all, this is a great compilation and a must-have if you want some Queen in your collection but don't have much/any at the moment. If you're an avid fan, you'll have much of this already - but, it might still be worth the download for the live material which really does show Queen off for the stadium-might and entertainment for which they were deservedly known.

3rd disc is not as strong as first two but still some very good songs on it. Easy five stars as it's the greatest hits of one of the worlds greatest bands. If you own no queen albums buy this one.
I had greatest hits 2 already on cd and greatest hits 1 on vinyl but wanted all 3 on cd.
