Ever since I read Patrick Myler's excellent bio on "Gentleman" Jim Corbett a few years ago, I have been eagerly awaiting every new book project he has done. With "Ring of Hate", Myler shows that he is among an elite of authors when it comes to books on boxing. This is the kind of book which is hard to put down.
"Ring of Hate" focuses mainly on the two fights between the two boxing greats, Joe Louis and Max Schmeling. Their two fights and the era and time in which they happened, along with the highly political importance they had at the time, has made them two of the most important fights throughout history.
Although they have been well documented before, Myler manages to capture the reader's interest and excitement throughout.
It's a very good read indeed, highly recommended.
With it, Patrick Myler has also set a high level of expectations for his next project. Judging by this and past quality work, he should handle that just fine.
