An excellent album with some of the best dubs ever recorded.

Disk 1 is ok, the early development of dub, but disk 2 is the late seventies stuff the 'golden age' of dub, this is a great compilation of hypnotic tracks and everyone's a winner ...........worth it for disk2 alone

Even if you already own some of these on vinyl from the 1970's and 1980's, buying this double album from Trojan is a no-brainer. Means you don't have to bother converting your vinyl to MP3 or other digital format and fills gaps in your collection. A brilliant set of dubs to carry around with you on your personal music player and unbeatable at the price.

This is almost worth getting for Ian McCann's brilliantly succinct and fascinating booklet notes alone. In them he relates how Dub began, and evolved into hip-hop, rave etc. later on {oh, how I wish it hadn't}.
Rather than being edgy or dark ~ though some of these tracks are, I'm happy to say ~ I find most Dub relaxing, in the same way a cold shower can be. The cumulative effect of a whole disc of this stripped down music is bracing and oddly purifying.
If you want an example of the beauty and contained power of this superb compilation, try CD1 track 7: Buck Shot Dub, by the Rupie Edwards All Stars. But really, any of the tracks will do.
A couple of hours or more of the best Dub from the seventies, nicely packaged, sonically tremendous. I love it.

Massively recommended.
