I WENT TO THE DEEP SOUTH ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO, TO VISIT THE HOME OF THE BLUES AND SEE HOW THE OLD BLUES MEN LIVED; I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT, THIS BOOK HELPED ME RELIVE THAT HAPPY HOLIDAY ; I WISH I HAD GOT THIS BOOK TO TAKE WITH ME THEN. MR STOLLE GETS YOU INTO THE FEEL OF IT ALL WITHOUT BEING ALL STUFFY AND ANALYTICAL ABOUT IT, I HAVE HIS CDs , M FOR MISSISSIPPI,AND HIS DVDs M FOR MISSISSIPPI AND WE JUKE UP IN HERE, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE MUSIC AND GENERAL BACKGROUND OF WHAT THE MUSIC IS ALL ABOUT THIS GUY AND THIS BOOK IS AN IDEAL PLACE TO START
This is a great book, a slim tome but concise and an excellent introduction to the genre and the area by a guy who lives his subject. this book is easy to dip into as well as being readable in one hit and a fine appetiser before you wade into Robert Palmers ' Deep Blues' or similar. Also worth seeking out are the two DVDs, Roger Stolle was involved with; 'M for Mississippi' And 'We Juke Up In Here'. the soundtrack of the latter is a personal favourite and must if you like your Blues, raw and gritty.
