This is the album that Tommy Smith has been threatening to make for years, and it is possibly his best yet, always competent,Smith has upped his game to make a joyous celebration of all that is good in jazz.
He makes no bones in admitting to his influences;John Mclaughlin,Soft Machine,Weather Report,Jaco Pastorius and Jan Garbarek all spring to mind on this amazing album.
The first three tracks are all uptempo, whilst the fourth is a more reflective piece, perhaps reflecting his native Scotland.
Alyn Cosker.....Drums
Steve Hamilton.....Piano,Synth and Tambourine
Tommy Smith......Tenor and Soprano Saxophones,Shakuhatchi Synthesizer
Kevin Glasgow.....Electric Bass
The packaging is a three fold digi pack with a booklet, all enclosed in a slipcase.
Mixed by the brilliant Jan Erik Konshaug at Rainbow Studio Oslo.
All things considered,a great album!!
