I'm a big suzanne fan (love her SEAL troubleshooters series!), but this was a weak book. Suzanne shows she has not mastered being able to sustain an action-driven plot as when the book gets to two parts where it could become exciting, she chooses the path of least resistance both times. I found the romance between harry and alessandra unbelieveable and i wasn't engaged at all. Plus the harry's-son-being-a-dancer-but-NOT-gay (ok?!?) mini plot was pretty clunky. Yes suzanne, we know one does not have to be gay to be a dancer. Overall, a disappointment.

Suzanne Brockmann seems to aim to include every cliche of the genre possible in this romantic suspense novel - the naive and misunderstood (and very beautiful) woman who is suspected of a crime; the FBI agent with the tragic past; the bodyguard and the body he is guarding who fall in love; the children who just need love to sort themselves out ........ etc. etc. This is definitely one for fans of the genre but if you do like this sort of book you will find that this is an enjoyable and entertaining read.

The author's skill is in storytelling. The plot is predictable and there are no significant twists but it rattles along at a good pace and has lots of action and interaction between characters. The dialogue is sharp and believable if you imagine that we all express ourselves clearly and with a witty edge. The novel conveys the emotions of the characters well and makes their actions realistic enough if you suspend your disbelief a bit.

This is not great literature and nor is a great suspense novel or a great romance - it is a good enough romantic suspense story with the emphasis on romance but with enough action to keep you engaged. A novel for when you want a quick and undemanding read with no challenging surprises.

Having just discovered Ms Brockmann, I realise what a lot of time I've wasted reading other inferior books in the same genre.
The characters were utterly believable, especially Harry-who,in another time, could have been played by Humphrey Bogart. You really got the sense of his flawed character-this is not a perfect hero, shiny like a Tom Cruise smile. But I know who I'd choose every time !!- Put the cat out-send the kids on holiday & the husband down to the pub for the week & enjoy.

This is up to the usual high standards that Ms Brockman is able to produce over and over again. I have read many of her books and consider them among a select few writers that I would read a second time. The plot is well thought out and the characters are very believable. Overall a book you will find hard to put down until the very last page, just like me!!!

Another sensational story by Suzanne Brockmann, absolutely brimming with passion and romance, along with danger and thrills. The characters were marvelous and the plot kept me on edge until the final page. Definitely a story that you don't want to miss!
