Good packaging, arrived early, and works.

This movie has a fair amount of known actors from various other American TV and movies.
It also has interesting Extras on the characters beginnings, and actors.

There can’t be many Kevin Smith fans that don’t adore the truly witty and brill “Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back”. An upgrade from DVD to BLU RAY is called for.

But be aware that the ‘US Disney’ BLU RAY is REGION-A LOCKED - so it WILL NOT PLAY on most UK Blu Ray players unless they're chipped to play 'all' regions (which the vast majority aren't). Don’t confuse BLU RAY players that have multi-region capability on the 'DVD' front – that won’t help.

Buy the standard UK issue instead - it's cheap - a looker on BLU RAY and a fun ride like The Coen Brothers firing on all sixes…

As a fan of Kevin Smith's previous works, I was deeply disappointed by this. It feels like the first of the 'trilogy' that wasn't at least TRYING to make some deeper point -- some more successfully than others, but they all had at least something at the heart of them that was not just humorous riffing.
Without that, it was just a succession of references and knob gags. Funny the first time you watch it, but I doubt I shall be watching it twice. Rent instead. Or better yet, watch the previous four films, all of which are thoughtful and subtle.

Perhaps the funniest Kevin Smith film upto now. Jay and Silent Bob return, this time as the leading characters of their own movie. Other characters make pleasant yet brief returns. This film is more whacky than any other Kevin Smiths pervious movies, but be warned its not for everyone. If your a foul-mouthed, pot smoking, comic loving, red-bloodied male .... then this film will be hard to dislike. If you like more sutble and tasteful comedy ... then maybe this isnt for you.

Out of all Kevin Smiths films that I have watched, this is the best yet.

I was looking forward to the film as I loved Dogma. The biggest problem is that the disc is scratched and I need to return it. It jumps four times during play so really disappointed. the box is very slightly damaged so I am wondering if this has been returned before. The bits I did watch were good but will need to review again if I get a new one. It is a little pricey for a DVD which is so old.

in the four films that kevin smith wrote and directed prior to this, the characters of jay and silent bob stayed in the background of the central characters and stories but when they appeared they usually stole the show, hence a victory for the two likable stoners, but now,we get a film that takes jay and silent bob out of the shadows and a film is made in their name and the results are ,well ,mixed ,if im honest.

The film has a list of cameos that dont fail to impress for the most part, ben affleck, can be a little annoying in this one but his inclusion after mallrats and dogma is welcome, matt damon, will ferrell, chris rock and carrie fisher all appear and do good to moderate jobs.

The film follows the stoner two as they head to hollywood with the intention of stopping a movie being made that features characters of themselves, along the way ,mishap and chaos and misunderstanding follows and the film is sketchy enough in places as it feels like a sum of parts rather than an entire movie, crude humour beckons and there are funny moments but sometimes the humour is too deadpan and self loving and this is probably the worst of kevin smiths movies, not a shambles by any means but not a film that will change the very fabric that is entertainment.

Before I start I suppose that first I should admit I am a Kevin Smith fanboy and don't even think Jersey Girl was that bad. Jay and Silent Bob, as any Smith fan will know, are two of the most popular characters in Smith's movies although they had previously always been on the sidelines. Finally, in 2001, they got their own movie which follows all of Smith's traits from his skill at writing hilarious dialogue right through to his self-confessed technical inabilities. He also manages to get some great cameos in this including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Shannon Elizabeth, Jason Biggs and many more and we also get to see some familiar faces. The only thing that spoils this movie slightly for me is the poor casting of Will Ferrell but apart from that, if you enjoyed any of Smith's other movies, then chances are you'll like this. Clerks is still his best though.

Decided to treat myself to one of my fave movies in all it's bluray glory but on recieving my copy found that the only extras where a commentary , the dvd has an extra disc with hours of bonus features which are awesome so i was gutted to find them missing from the bluray which i thought would have them all also GUTTED !
but the movie still rocks

Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma, Chasing Amy - genius films.

And then this...

..it just doesn't compare.

I got the impression that this film was made to get more of a mainstream "American Teen Movie" audience, which it did I suppose. Hopefully this will have got people into the other Kevin Smith films, at least there's a silver lining.

Jay and Silent Bob are great characters in small doses, or as part of a larger cast. But the humour seemed thinly spread. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy certain parts of this film immensely, but overall it was overshadowed by the more intelligent View Askew films that came before it (and Clerks II after it).

If you like Kevin Smith films then get this. You will probably enjoy it, but like me, you may find it just doesn't flex your Kevin Smith muscle as much as the others. It feels like the two characters people often think of when Kevin Smith is mentioned, were given their own film just for the sake of cashing in on a wider audience. Thankfully, Kevin Smith managed to reign supreme again with Clerks II a few years later.
