This album is a real 'grower'. Dub Colossus make an eccentric mix of cool jazzy grooves, deep roots reggae and Ethiopian folk music with a soupcon of dub for added spice and recorded in Scotland to boot! These are top players who meld these styles together effortlessly and with the gorgeous African voices this album is a winner.
With its odd-ball mixture of jazz, Ethiopian popular music and seventies reggae this is never going to outsell Justin Beiber. The variety of styles shouldn't mix - but they do, and provide an album that never loses the listener's interest. There's such a lot of things to enjoy here - the sad thing is that unlike JB this album will get no publicity, and will get missed by many people who'd love it. Great cover art, too.
