Horrified and disgusted at the quality of the Hard Back Edition
on 27 February 2015
This is not a review of the content of this book. I bought it as a gift for someone who loves Tolkien and it was sent directly to them. When I saw the book I was horrified but not because it is too small, though that is a failing, the paper that the book is printed on is extremely cheap and very "not white" (like an old paperback) and rough. It looks and feels like old, though a little thicker, new-paper. The very small print just does not take on it. The book feels and looks very nasty and it says to anyone picking it up that the writer, J.R.R. Tolkien, is not worth reading! No one could possibly respect the quality. This book could easily be passed off as an awfully bad, illegal copy.
So compared to the paperback "Unfinished Tales" by J.R.R. Tolkien published by Colins this is small, (smaller than the paperback) with rough discoloured paper (rougher, less white and thinner than the paperback) and small print that is not easy to read on the rough, discoloured paper ( and yes the font is smaller than the paperback.)
If it were on sale at "The Works" for even £2 no-one would consider buying it.
I consider that the book is NOT of merchantable quality. I paid £11.69 for it. I expected a hard back book size( ie nearly twice the size of this book)
