This educational project makes the most wonderful film, as long as you are interested in dance ... The teenagers who are involved in the rehearsals seem to develop so much in terms of confidence and sensitivity over the ten months, and we get to see them in interview and understand how the experience might fit into the broader picture of their lives. We also see Pina Bausch and others training them with great dedication and empathy, and the amount of humour also suggests the benefit of working on something you love. I was amazed by these young people, their seriousness and their integrity, both in rehearsals and in terms of what we see outside; they are daring to face their emotions and to try to articulate different things in ways that require a certain courage, and they give one hope that not all is lost for future generations after all, as long as there are some people growing up with this kind of openness in their hearts. The piece, Kontakthof, is one I have seen bits of in the film Pina, but I have never seen it in its entirety, sadly - it seems like a fascinating piece, full of humour and bold, brilliant ideas. If you've seen and enjoyed Pina, this is a marvellous way to see that piece worked up from scratch.

-For those who have enjoyed this ,may i point them toward seeing another Pina dvd entiltled 'Kontakthof' and subtitled'with ladies and gentlemen 'over 65' - which makes an interesting counterpoint to the youngsters in 'Dancing Dreams' -as their minds and bodies have all been 'lived in', rather than the amazing freshness, trials and joy of discovery in young people....Thought provoking on various levels and helps round-off her view of 'being human'.

An interesting account of workshops supervised by Pina Bausch, which show the range and quality of dance under her guidance.
It was fascinating to see young people without experience being organised into sophisticated and successful routines.

trully great work- describes the process of rehearsing Kontakthof with teenagers,
although Pina only appears from time to time, through her dancers you can get a very clear image of her work.

A poignant documentary about how learning to do an extraordinary ballet
by Pina Bausch helps develop teenagers in Wuppertal, Germany, bringing them out
affectively and allowing them to relate their new experiences to family and personal
circumstances. It is all very sensitively handled, and the dance looses none
of its fascination in this version. Well worth the time watching.

This is inthe same vein as PINA. This time the dancers are young teenagers. Typical Pina, excellent routines and the method to enjoy dancing, which is Pina's trade mark. If you like contemprorary dancing, then this is for you. Thinking man's / woman's cup of tea.

It's amazing to see the changes in this bunch of teenagers over the course of the film. I suppose it's best to sum it up as 'Confidence through Dance'
