Season nine of South Park comes to dvd, with the fourteen episodes spread over three discs.

Languages: English German Spanish.

Subtitles: English Danish Dutch Finnish German Norwegian Spanish Swedish.

Each episode has a brief commentary from the two creators of the show. Very funny and very articulate and they say all that needs to be said about an episode in no more than four to five minutes so they are all worth listening to.

Episodes as follows:

Mr. Garrisons fancy new vagina. Mr Garrison gets a sex change operation - brief footage of a real one taking place is not for the squeamish - and Kyle tries to become a successful basketball player. It gets to brilliantly absurd levels in regards to body altering and there's a great scene where Kyle finds sympathy from Cartman can be in short supply.

Die Hippie Die sees Cartman dealing with a hippie convention as the other boys find out that their lifestyle is not all it's cracked up to be.

Wing gives a showcase to oriental singer wing as the boys become talent agents.

Best friends forever puts south parks spin on the right to withdraw life support and also throws in clever and knowing satire of the third lord of the rings film.

The losing edge is the anthesis of baseball movies.

The death of eric cartman sees him finally push the others too far and take the consequences the wrong way. Classic comedy of misunderstanding.

Erection day has schoolboy jimmy take the onset of puberty to exteme lengths in another that heights up the levels as it goes along.

Two days before the day after tomorrow is a parody of the day after tomorrow and satire of the poor response to hurricane katrina. And it has one of the funniest final scenes ever.

Marjorine sees butters fake his death in order to pose as a girl to steal a valuable item from the local girls. But his parents try to resurrect him. It's funny but as Trey Parker says on the commentary it throws in too many ideas and thus the end rather peters out.

Follow that egg satirises legalising gay marriage as mr garrison goes against it for his own ends.

Ginger kids finds cartman responding to kyle's attempts to teach him a lesson about prejudice.

Trapped in the closet is a merciless attack on scientology and it led to Isaac Hayes leaving the show. Unlike other religions South Park has satirised it finds no redeeming features to scientology. But if you can get past that it's very funny. And the end credits are very clever. A bit disappointingly the commentary is rather worthelss as they state that they don't feel like talking about the episode anymore, having said lots about it already in other media.

Free Willzyx involves the boys trying to free a whale from a theme park and get it to the moon since they think it lives there. A simple but well executed idea and fun along the way.

Season finale Bloody Mary also came in for attack as it satirises the phenomeon of statues bleeding and the religious response to that. It also isn't too kind to alcoholics anonymous. But it's also very funny.

Nine years in and the show is at the top of it's game in another well presented box set.

There's not many shows that seem to hit their creative stride this late into the game but the ninth series of South Park is excellent. Absolutely no-one is safe as Parker and Stone make fun of both sides of any argument and usually highlight's their stupidity. One of the good things about this season is that a lot of the episodes have the kids behaving like kids which is highlighted in "Marjorine" where the boys are freaked out by the girl's paper fortune teller, or "Free Willzyx" where they are fooled into "rescuing" a "talking" killer whale.
While "Trapped in the closet" is infamous and has some very funny moments I'd still rate it as average compared to episodes like "Ginger Kids", "Death of earic Cartmann" and the aforementioned "Free Willzyx". The season really is that good and for under £11 it's worth having just for rewatch value and unmissable if you haven't already seen the season.

Some people have been complaining about the later series of south park saying they have gone down hill, but this is not the case.

This season is fantastic involving several great episodes such as:

Mr Garrisons fancy new vagina (including great storyline involving plastic surgery)

The episode where Kenny must save the world using the golden psp, the scientology episode which lead to chef's departure, another where the boys become managers of the talented singer Wing, and the episode where the boys try their hardest to lose at baseball, and of course it cant be south park without cartman upsetting a group of people, in this season its ginger people.

So I would recomend seeing all the south park you can including this series.

There were a few small initial misunderstandings with this product, but all where resolved when the company selling the product got in touch with me and instantly resolved the issue. Amazing customer service very impressed with the time taken to resolve the very small misunderstanding and would thoroughly recommend buying from this company, as I will continue to do in the future.

A great series of episodes from South Park. Some of my favourite episodes - Randy going up against the Batdad while singing Joe Esposito, a rescued whale hurled into space, the death of Eric Cartman and a hippy music jam to name only four. A show that can somehow be crass, outrageous, hilarious and clever - sometimes all at the same time! Great stuff.

I have not seen South Park since it disappeared from the normal TV channels, but I bought this DVD set just to see what was going on and I am glad that I did. The kids are as outrageous as ever and some of the subjects covered such as gay marriage and Scientology means that nothing is off-limits - just as it should be. The only gripe I have is that the worst of the bad language has been bleeped out. Why? South Park gained its infamous reputation on the kids' bad language. I am paying good money for this DVD so I should get the complete article. Anyway it is still very funny but I still feel cheated.
