Good, but not great
on 12 August 2012
Having grown up and enjoyed Battleships as a boy I thought it would be a good idea to introduce the game to my daughter. We had a family holiday coming up so travel Battleships seemed the best bet. I used to have travel Battleships many years ago which certainly seemed more substantial than this version. It appears that the bean counters have got their way and produced quite a flimsy model, the plastics are pretty thin. That said the overall cost of the game is low so you can't expect too much.
The gameplay is as good as ever. However the biggest drawback to the game, bearing in mind it's supposed to be a travel game, is once you've started playing and put in the markers the lid of the game will not close properly. This effectively means you can't stop halfway through a game as you cannot safely store the game without all the counters falling out. Really poor design.
