Badly written and completely lacking any credibility - e.g. Rector beds newly-widowed parishioner who handily becomes pregnant with his twins, which are then conveniently available for adoption by the Rector and his wife, the boring doctor who can't have her own and is willing to forgive her husband all...
The only reason I stuck with this tiresome nonsense was because I was given it as a talking book and the reader, Gordon Griffin, was wonderful - he could read a telephone directory and make it interesting. Come to think of it, the phone book probably is more interesting than this!
