I got this (2010 released) Samsung 4-in-1 MFC (printer, copier, scanner, fax) to our SOHO last week and find it till now as a cream of the cream. As I got similar (but 2006 released) Lexmark x364 series the same day for my home use, might easily compare the two, with Samsung superiority as a big gap.
With this Samsung SCX you are able to (when compared to competitors):
On the pros:
Uses ethernet for network job while in the same time using wi-fi for ad-hoc connections (with Lexmark you have to choose between the two NICs);
Scans to email with your SMTP, and POP3 before SMTP, SSL protected email account (like Gmail server and most of the email providers);
Uses well-backlit LCD touchpanel with menu icons (with Lexmark obscure 2-row TFT, no contrast settings in menu);
Has very small footprint as for double duplex (duplex printing and duplex document feeding) machine;
Forwards faxes to email, which might be great when in travel, etc. (with Lexmark faxes forwarded to another fax only);
Relatively silent work (with Lexmark strange clicking noise, due to problematic mylar shield of fuser unit, as Lexmark service people told me - I called the service to Lexmark machine the very first day after purchase!);
User-friendly drivers installation - but forget Samsung SyncThru Office, can't use it as the software suspends itself with errors on my XPsp3 system (wth Lexmark you get quite odd-outdated-looking menus).
Good ppc (price per copy) with 10,000 copies cartridge available (Lexmark might be still superior on-the-run with very easy to fill aftermarket toner supplies, and separate drum roller);
On the cons:
Besides never-try-to-use SyncThru Office, Samsung-bundled Recognita OCR package is much much inferior to Lexmark-bundled Abbyy FineReader OCR (I never suspected before that OCR to searchable PDF could be so fussy-less as with Abbyy FineReader - worth to mention the challenge is I OCR in Polish with it's accents etc., not in 'standard' English).
DADF (RADF) - duplex ADF - is a two-pass unit, which takes a lot of time for scanning, or duplex copying (when in a hurry and working with a lot of double-sided originals, get one of the more expensive one-pass scanning duplex ADF machines).
The only point: Samsung set it's price tag very high, but may be worthwile for business or SOHO users with 3-years guarantee offer (Lexmark was half the price on sale offer, with 1-year on-site guarantee).
Did not try all the funcions yet, will come.
Check your wallets and choose ;-)
