The title track of this album was a huge hit on both sides of the Atlantic and deservedly so, a well-crafted track with a cheeky lyric. The remainder of the album, however, palls quickly. It's a pleasing listen the first time around, but this is no 'Fly Like An Eagle'. There are catchy melodies in abundance, but, typical for the 1980s, the production has a rather vapid sheen. Rock 1970s-style was clinging on by this time, but Miller would have been better sticking to it as that was where his strength lay. There are several tracks which catch the ear the first time around, 'Give It Up' with its lush harmonies and 'Goodbye Heart' which has a rousing country rock tinge being two examples, but it's all a bit shallow. I guess this is what critics mean by 'disposable pop'.

Ok, 5 stars because i do love it!!
I find that the style of the album is unique, i have not heard another band that sound anything like them & the fusion of synths and fx along with rock is superb. This was my first ever album so im bound to rate it but i didnt hear it for many years and rediscovered it in 2008 & can certainly say its passed the test of time and is still enjoyable and fresh.

This is the Steve Miller Band at there most commercial, there are no blues as on all his other albums, this is full on pop-rock at its finest, all the musicians are playing their instruments at their slickest, at least three of the tracks are possible number one hits but only one was and thats the title track, Give It Up and Cool Magic are also very commercial and had the potential to have caught the pop music general publics ears, not his best album but a very enjoyable one all the same
