It's alright if looking for more scenarios after finishing the Zoo tycoons (which will always be the best!). But it can be difficult to move objects around as the ground doesn't have a grid pattern like zoo tycoon, so you have to try and turn it with your mouse which makes it difficult to place exactly where you want it e.g. shops, paths, fences etc.

I also found it annoying that zoo keepers don't just run around wherever they are needed, they have set areas and get tired or don't have the right skills - in which case they don't do the jobs they should be doing! You also have to hire vets and gardeners - and although I like the pretty variety of flowers and trees that you can have, they seem to always be getting ill (e.g. mould) or needing to be watered, or are too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer etc. it gets rather tedious looking after them.

A lot of the animals and plants names are also still in German, making it also annoying to work out which one needs tending to when it comes up on the screen!

So overall - I am still using as scenarios are interesting and I enjoy the graphics of the game animals etc. but for new players stick with the zoo tycoons - they are awesome and nothing will ever beat that!

I bought this as I haven't seen anything from Zoo Tycoon (0001254561) Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection (or updates to its website) for ages - and have heard rumours that it's in all sorts of trouble. This is a definite second to that game series, but I was particularly attracted by the option of random colours popping up in the game. I haven't played long enough for that to happen yet but so far I am particularly disappointed that parts of the game have not been translated from the German. It's not difficult to understand nor affects gameplay (so far) but is indicative of the MUCH lower quality control from the designers. For both these games it would be exciting if it was possible to select individual animals to breed - especially if unusual colour combinations are randomised. It's something we see in online apps/games more and more (eg Virtual Villagers from the brilliant Last Day of Work).

Gameplay is good.

However, the game only uses a single core. As such, it lags incredibly (7fps) when your park becomes substantially sized and populated. [I have a 3.3Ghz desktop i3 processor.]

Bought for my daughter, she loved it because the graphics were much better. Make sure you have at least 2.6GHz and 500 Mb Graphics card.

What can I say, I played it for no more than a few hours before I went back to Zoo Tycoon.
