where to begin!!!!
im sorry theres too much here to convey into words...
3 CDS, 109 songs culled from 48 albums, a selection of the best songs from every half japanese album, songs from collaborations (jad fair & jason willet, jad and david fair, jad & r. stevie moore, jad and nao, jad and strobe talbot, jad and kramer, jad & dqe, jad & yo la tengo, jad and the shapir-o'rama, monster party, mosquito, jad & phono-comb, jad and daniel johnston and lastly....just jad).
admittingly, i don't know all of the artists jad's collaborated with BUT if you have had any passing interest in jad's work you'll know what to expect. the songs aren't in chronological order, so you may be listening to an ultra lo-fi amatuerish song and then the next may be more polished and "accessible". i think this works because then you wont be tempted to just listen to one particular CD or era of jad's work. my only gripe is that one of my favourite songs "1,000,000 kisses" has been replaced by "1,000,000,000 kisses" which is a rougher version.
i think this is a great compilation and very useful as some of half japanese albums can be quite hard to get. if you have any passing curiousity in american "indie underground" you can't go wrong here.
