I've been a fan of Netgear Prosafe switches for a long time now, it's basically all we use here in the office so this was an obvious choice. So I get it plugged in, switched on, and scan for its IP address. I find it quickly, open up the web browser to setup my VLANs and .... nothing.
It doesn't have a web interface. Seriously.
Nor does it have an SSH interface. Not even telnet.
Turns out the only way you can use this switch is via a Windows-only program. That little fact is not mentioned anywhere in the specs or description for this device. This basically makes it 100% useless to me and my business. Even if we had Windows here, having to install extra software just to use a simple network switch is a big no. It's just wrong.
I'm *very* disappointed Netgear. The product will be returned, and I will have to look at alternatives now.
