Sweden's Bad Habit are nothing if not consistent. Following their excellent 'Above & Beyond' CD two years ago, once again this CD sees them at their very best.
Their main creative force, Hal Marabel has written with outside writers this time, but the sound is still classic Bad Habit. Top of the pile song wise for me would be 'I Wanna Be The One','Angel of Mine', & 'Fantasy' but to be honest, all the songs are great on this CD. There is a good balance between the rockier side and the ballad side of the band. The production is clean and crisp, whilst still giving the guitars some bite.
I am amazed these guys are not megastars; the hook lines and choruses on this CD alone would surely have churned out several hits if the music industry wasn't the X Factor fixated beast it is.
Think an intelligent Def Leppard at their most commercial with a Swedish melodic rock (Europe etc) twist; even an element of pop thrown in for good measure; smooth, well-produced, rock but accessible songs that will keep you humming the melody for weeks.
Buy this CD, you will not be disappointed! And pick up their back catalouge too-the Timeless compilation from last year is a great intro to the band.
Always thought of Swedish band Bad Habit as a bit of a 'rock-by-numbers' AOR band like fellow countrymen Europe in many ways, but this is brilliant, crunchy rock with fantastic melodies and vocals. 'Break the Silence' is probably the only track that has you thinking 'I've heard that riff before' and although there is nothing as immediate as 'Final Countdown' here, tracks like 'Angel of Mine' and 'Without You' are absolutely stellar, superb melody, lovely keys, ace riffing and a huge chorus. Fantastic production, every instrument, note and phrase as clear as a bell..
