I must say I got this as a present, (thank you Santa) have looked at it in various shops and just wanted it so much.

The design is the best in my opinion for a long time and either being used as it should be as a tea strainer or just an ornament, either way a sure style design for any Alessi lover. A super present for anyone's Silver Wedding anniversary present or wedding gift, one that will certainly stand out as being a stylish and classic present amongst many others.

The bird sits inside the cage (this being the strainer).

The item itself has the batteries underneath in the base (a thing to note, is when opening these compartments that the screws are ever so tiny.). Don't know why but instead of there being just one place for the batteries there are actually two, a funny Italian design. There is a switch so you can either have the bird chirp each time you place the strainer back into place or not, to me though that is half the attraction (the bird song).

That said it really is a wonderful piece of Alessi design. Something useful but also something of beauty.

The top of the cage has a little red bird in the same shape as the strainer inside the cage.

The strainer along with the drip collector are both dish washer proof, so as well as being pretty to look at, very functional too in the washing department.

I must admit to taking the strainer out just to hear the bird chirp rather than for a cup of tea.

Not a cheap piece of Alessi (sorry the pun), but one for any serious Alessi Collector.

Saw this in Dublin and just had to get it for my sisters' birthday. The solid tea strainer sits in the cage, and when you lift it bird song fills the kitchen. Lovely thing to have and great delivery from the seller.
