Disappointing and shallow
13 March 2013
This book has some interesting observations on Burn Out and started well.
However, in my view it really doesn't tell you much about how to revive, is lacking deep insights and has entirely too many quotes from Joan's FBF's (Facebook Friends) which break up the flow of the book and highlight it's lack of content.
The author mentions towards the end of the book that her submission deadline is due in two days and it really feels like a rushed and disinterested finish.
The summary of the book is along the lines of
1) You burn out because you are doing too many things that zap your energy and are not being true to yourself
2) The big pharma medication approach is often misguided
3) The routes of burnout are in your childhood
4) You need to let go and learn to listen to your true self
