Mgm hired a italian company to do some wild sci fi flics in the 60's. The first was 'wild wild planet" and then this one in which glowing aliens take over people. The idea is actually a good sci story. Star trek would use the same type of story too, however this is the world of superlow budget here. In spite of that the sets do look pretty cool in this movie. The outside shots are cheap models sets that even in 1966 would have been seen as cheap. The way this movie is done though is fun, with lots of bad dialog, and general wierdness, as people go go dance at the monnbase and then battle the steam monsters, well light monsters of energy that often look like steam monster. You get the point. It's bad b movie madness and mgm was glad to have this product to throw at the drive in theaters back then. I would say that dvdrs whouldn't be more than five bucks probably , but at least you can add this campy movie to your collection if you want to. The picture looks decent and it's in color at least. But of course if you want better sci fi and not a campy shlocky flick this isn't for you. This is pure shlock and camp and if you are in the mood for that then this is fine for you. If you hate shlock then this is a one star disaster!
