Just received this for Christmas and have had fun testing it out on various surfaces. So far glass is best. It will stick to vertical panes of glass so you can try out different size windows and rooms to see which produces the best sound/bass - our bathroom works best for your information. When I placed it on our glass dining table (wood base) the bass could be felt through the floor! It does have quite an effect. The sound quality can vary depending on other factors such as the quality of the recording and the actual music you choose, Bob Marley sounded great. The louder the volume goes, it seems, the better it gets as the bass starts to kick in and marry better with the treble. Your proximity to it also effects the end result. It's not perfect. It won't replace your current system but it's portability will be it's key selling point, great for holidays. It 'can' sound great and it adds a new level of fun finding surfaces to to try out!. It's a bit pricey but it's novel. The battery life is good too 20 hours from usb (battery built in). It says the frequency range is 40 hz - 20,000khz (which is a phenomenal boast)but it tends to lose its way in the middle somewhere. Overall for anyone looking for a compact speaker this has got to be a consideration, it's success dependent on available surfaces.
As a point of trivia I've been able to play the radio on my Lg phone through this speaker as the cable connecting both acts as an antenna... ooh!

The Wowee one classic arrive through my door this morning and after just an hour of playing with I am extremely impressed! I have only tried using several surfaces so far, but the results have been spectacular, a desktop table, a wardrobe, a window and a small carboard box. When used on the wardrobe I could feel the bass through out the room and I only had my playback device on half volume. the small cardboard box also provided some rich sub end bass content to my surprise.

Those are the main positive thoughts I had about this product, but there is a negative one I must add... The frequency range is advertised as 40hz-20000khz, the 40hz was easily reached on most surfaces I tried but with my audiophile ears I could straight away hear that the tweeter on top of the unit never went anywhere near 20000khz. I think I can safely say it barely reaches 14000khz. Because of this the sound has no sparkle to it like you would expect from a full range speaker/monitor and it sounds a little dull. With that said however I don't feel that it takes away from the experience that much as the focus point of this product is the exceptional bass response it has. I just wish they would not falsely advertise its upper frequency range as 20000khz.

Bought this for my mother, thinking this would just be another portable speaker, but once she showed me how it worked I was blown away. On its own, the speaker is pretty ordinary, producing a tinny sound you would expect. But lay the gel side down on any surface - glass table works best, we've found - and suddenly the whole surface turns into a speaker. It really is as good as any Bose product at that point. The problem lies in finding places that best utilize vibrations. Windows are suggested, like in the car, if you have faith that the gel will hold on, but it also works on tables, walls, kitchen counters, floors, etc, to varying degrees of success.

Brilliant little gadget, and my mum's still using it to deafen us all, so well worth the money.

I have owned my Wowee for a year or so and really like it. I am so suprised that they are not more popular. I have use mine alot travelling with MP3 players and laptops and eventually I got rid of my home PC speakers and now use my Wowee instead. The bass is great, in fact the bass is unbelievably loud for the size (sometime you can ALMOST feel it in your chest!), although it is a shame that the midrange and treble can't really match the quality of the bass output - but if you aware of that limitation from the start - you may find that this is a great product that allows you to get big powerfull sound from a box that is only a four or five inches long. All you need to do is find a flat surface such as a formica or glass table top, stick on the Wowee, and off you go! Even surfaces that are not perfectly flat can be stuck to and still generate a pretty decent bassline. Also, try and get the hard case if you can afford it, as as it offers really good protection and helps alot when travelling...

Recieved my wowee speaker today not expecting that much. Delivery was mega fast thanks to the express delivery option however this review really should be based around the speaker itself. Honestly, I can't think of any other portable speaker that produces so much bass yet hold onto the clarity of the music which should always be expected. Even though I do ponder in the dubstep scene which consists of bass heavy music- I do listen to various other genres and all of which I've tried with this speaker and clearly it's all smiles from me. Haven't been this happy about a purchase in a long time.

I bought this at the airport so got it a lot cheaper than on Amazon. The other bonus was being able to try it out in the store with music from my own iPod.

I was very impressed straight away having tried other speakers which are so tinny - this one is not. The other alternatives I found much too expensive for what they did ie Bluetooth. It works better on some surfaces than others but you can normally find one suitable in any room. Still probably a little over priced for what it is but it does the job and will be accompanying me on my travels around the country this year. This is so much better than the 'plug your iPod into a hotel telly or radio' - leagues better.

I've already had two evenings completely free of hotel television viewing thanks to this speaker and can forsee many more. It's great. I also bought a belkin charger which powers up this and the ipod at the same time so no issues with running out of power on either unit too. Drops one star just because of the price.

I bought this to use when on vacation - outdoors round the pool or barbecue. At the start the sound was great (on a glass table) but after 45 minutes the unit suddenly died. I recharged fully for 16 hrs (although light goes out after 2 hrs), but second charge lasted 60 minutes. The marketing blurb says up to 20 hrs, and I'd have been happy with 5, but 1hr? And this was at dinner, so low volume. Bass is good, but if anything else on the table (like cutlery) then it vibrates. One star indicates "I hate it" - well I wouldn't say I hate it, but a speaker that lasts for less than the average album is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, so it's going back. Will try the xmi next.

Wowee replaced the unit, and the new one lasts for several hours (like more than 5). So the moral is that if your battery fades after a short while, send it back for a replacement. Improved to 3 stars.

Does exactly what they said it would do, namely give good sound with well-rounded bass from portable devices when on the move. Absolutely brilliant sound quality. We plug it into our laptops, mobiles, blackberries i-pods etc, put it onto a flat surface & enjoy really great sound. I speak as an audio engineer & I am very, very impressed. Its internal power supply is more than adequate & it is small (& light) enough to fit into my jacket pocket & my wife's & daughter's handbags.

Packaging was good and protective & delivery was speedy. One of our best purchases ever.

Great little speaker. Surface that its mounted on is totally key to how well it works. Glass is by far the best followed by wood and sofa. For a laugh toilet lid although not very practical. Had a few little speakers now and with the wowee one you can really tell the difference. Does not replace stereo by any stretch but then you can't take a stereo round with you.

An excellent product. Dithered over whether it was the best option for the money but have been rewarded. Much louder than expected and the gel audio feature really improves the sound quality. On certain surfaces like wood the speaker can jump a bit at loud volumes and high bass sections. Best surface is definitely glass or plastic tubs. Worth every penny but would recommend buying a hard case for it as otherwise it seems quite vulnerable. Has a charge time of around 4 hours from what i can tell as this was information i couldn't find.
